Belgian countryside

As you maybe all understood, I’m from Belgium. It’s a nice little country in the center of Europe, with a healthy mix of cities and countryside villages.

I grew up on the countryside. Not comparable to the british countryside, for sure. The biggest city was only 20 km away, but as kid it seemed very far away.

Thankfully there was a bus who’d take us to the city, but it only drove 3 times a day on the weekend. I’ll always remember my parents being a little angry when we missed the last bus taking us home. Looking back at it, they spent a considerable amount of time driving us around, to the city or to go visit friends.

I miss it from time to time. Not the driving around of course, but the peace and quiet which offers the countryside. It’s perfect to full your mind with peace, to escape the stress and routine of big cities.

I am thankful. Thankful that I was given the chance to grow up on the countryside, climb in trees, build things out of mud, eat apples who fell down the trees und beeing able to see goats give birth (oh yes the last one also really happened!).

See you soon, my beautiful belgian countryside!
