The Mosel is one of my favorite regions in Europe.
It is one of the 13th wine regions in Germany and it’s called Mosel because of the Mosel river. The Mosel is mainly famous for its wines made from the Riesling grape, but Elbling and Müller-Thurgau are pretty famous too.
Nice to know: On the 29th april 2012, Prince William married his Kate, and it’s common knowledge in the Mosel region that Buckingham Palace is a big customer from a winery in Mertesdorf.
The little village called Piesport is very beautiful, I spent a few days there, staying at a friend who lives in this lovely region.
Starting in Piesport, you can go on a one-hour-trip with the boat to Bernkastel-Kues.
This big city has a wine festival happening every year. It lasts five whole days and during that time, there’s a wine queen (the Mosella) who’s responsible for the city. The regency of the mayor is even withdrawn and given to the Mosella for that time!
I totally recommend the Mosel, if you’re the kind of person who likes to relax, drink wine and spend a few days in full serenity!
Mosel, I’ll come back to visit you!
